Manchester United have been actively working on a deal for Joshua Zirkzee over the past two to three weeks, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Premier League giants has been extensively linked with a move to the Bologna striker in recent weeks and now Romano has provided insight into what the state of play is.

The Italian reporter said: “Man Utd have been actively working on a deal for Joshua Zirkzee over the past two to three weeks.
“They are gathering detailed information about his release clause, which is €40 million and valid until mid-August, as well as details about the salary, contract, and commission. While Man Utd have not yet decided on their course of action, they recognise Zirkzee as a significant opportunity and will likely have internal discussions soon.”
Zirkzee has been with Bologna for two seasons now, having joined on a permanent move from Bayern Munich. Last season, under coach Thiago Motta, the 23-year-old managed to score eight goals in 16 games in the first half of the 2023–24 campaign,
He ended the season with 11 Serie A goals from 34 games. He has also been linked with a move to AC Milan, having even verbally agreed personal terms, but now it’s Man Utd who appear to be winning the race for the Dutchman.
AC Milan remains priority
Joshua Zirkzee would only join Man Utd this summer if a transfer to AC Milan definitely falls through.

That is according to Matteo Moretto, who reports that Zirkzee’s priority remains to join the Rossoneri this summer.
Man Utd remain interested in signing Zirkzee but the Dutchman would only consider signing for the Red Devils if a deal with Milan became impossible.
