Haaland's comments FUEL reports he will join Mbappe at Real Madrid

Erling Haaland has opened up on his future at Manchester City after being asked about his contract situation.

The striker, who has often been linked with a switch to Real Madrid, enjoyed another fruitful season at the Etihad last term, netting 38 goals in 45 games in all competitions.

The 23-year-old has a release clause of £175million that is now active, reports the Mirror, who say that the club want him to extent it further.

When asked about his future on TV2, Haaland said: “I've had two fantastic years and have three years left. That's really all I can say. Are there ongoing talks? That's all I can say, what I just said.”

The Norwegian has netted 90 goals in just 98 games for Man City, but it could be that he will not be with the side in the coming years.

Erling Haaland's future plans

Speaking in the documentary, 'Haaland: The Big Decision', Alfie Haaland, his father, hinted that his son was unlikely to stay in England for more than four years. He said: "I think Erling wants to prove his abilities in all leagues. Then he can stay there [Manchester City] for three or four years at the most. He could be, for example, two-and-a-half years in Germany, two-and-a-half years in England and then in Spain, Italy, France, right?"

He continued: "On our list, I think City is the best team. [Bayern] Munich is number two. We have Real Madrid as number three, Paris Saint-Germain as number four."

Indeed, Real Madrid have been called one of the player’s most likely destinations but their recent signing of Kylian Mbappe could see that reversed.

The forward was announced as a Real Madrid player earlier this week after leaving Paris Saint-Germain at the end of his contract.
