Greenwood's strike partner found? Marseille target Arsenal star
Marseille are seeking to sign Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal as Roberto De Zerbi targets a second England international star.
OM are close to completing a deal for Manchester United attacker Mason Greenwood, with an offer for the striker accepted by the Red Devils, despite opposition from the Mayor of the Provencal city over the player’s personal conduct.
Marseille, meanwhile, has proven something of a haven for former Arsenal players in recent years, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang notably enjoying a successful 2023/24 campaign at the club.
EXCLUSIVE: Arsenal contact agents of Tottenham target Eze
While the Gabon international discusses a contract extension with the Stade Velodrome outfit after his one-year deal expired on 30 June, Marseille are targeting a raid for his former Emirates teammate Nketiah, according to FootMercato.
It reports: “Marseille have taken the first steps to a deal with Eddie Nketiah… He is open to a new challenge at 25 years old.
“The transfer is still in its early stages, but the first contact has been positive. The last time Marseille signed from Arsenal was in 2022 with the arrival of Matteo Guendouzi, and he did not regret it.”
Nketiah, who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €14.3 million, has been followed by Premier League sides Crystal Palace, Brentford and Leicester, though with Marseille he would have the opportunity to play in the Champions League.

Arsenal agree Nuno Tavares deal
Arsenal, meanwhile, are on the verge of selling Nuno Tavares to Lazio for a loan deal that will possess an obligation to buy worth €6m.
Rudy Galetti says that there are still talks ongoing with the left-back, who himself previously had a loan deal with Marseille.
Lazio are aiming to close out the deal by the weekend, which, in conjunction with a transfer for Nketiah, could potentially help Arsenal free up funds to complete their first major signing of the summer.
