Arsenal ‘WIN’ race for Riccardo Calafiori

Arsenal look to have done enough to sign Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna.

Juventus were initially in command of the transfer race yet the deal has broken down due to their poor relationship with their Serie A rivals.

The Gunners have moved quickly to secure a deal, beating the likes of Chelsea and PSG to the Italy international star.

Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the total package of the deal will be worth in excess of €55 million, with Calafiori signing a four-year contract worth €4m per year at the Emirates Stadium.

FootballTransfers understands that all that needs done with regards to negotiations is to finalise the payment structure, so the deal is close to being completed.

New striker plan

Arsenal have fully given up on signing a heavyweight striker, as was already suggested by their pursuit of Benjamin Sesko.

The Gunners will instead target a young centre-forward with a lot of potential who can come in and offer competition for the more established attackers at the club.

It is therefore highly unlikely that names such as Victor Osimhen or Viktor Gyokeres will be seriously pursued by the Gunners this summer.

Barcelona stepping up for Nico Williams

Barcelona are poised to make life difficult for both Arsenal and Chelsea when it comes to signing Nico Williams from Athletic Club.

The Spain winger is known to prefer a move to another Spanish club, and according to Sport, Barca have made the 21-year-old their summer transfer priority.

It is not, however, certain that Barca will be able to fund a move for the player as their financial position remains unclear. It may be that they need to make sales before a deal is possible, leaving the door open for Arsenal and their Premier League rivals to force through a deal for the assist machine.

Arsenal pressing for wonderkid

Arsenal are “pressing” to sign Patrick Dorgu of Lecce, according to Pianeta Lecce.

The source reports that the Gunners have sent scouts to follow the 19-year-old left-back on several occasions this season.

The Denmark U21 star has excelled in the games that Arsenal have watched, notably scoring against Fiorentina and Sassuolo.

Tottenham and Liverpool are seen as potential rivals in this particular transfer battle.

Mystery German target

There are rumours abounding that Arsenal are ready to move for a German player.

This very vague description was picked up on by Arsenal correspondent Charles Watts on his YouTube channel, where he revealed that he knows “nothing” about the rumour.

Gooner influencer TNAT, however, hopes that Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich could be the player in question.

“My main transfer source messaged me out the blue and said there’s legs in this German thing,” he claimed. “I replied within a quarter of a second saying: ‘Who?’

“He didn’t get back to me for 24 hours and he said: ‘I can’t let the name come out at the moment. It can’t come out.

“I have heard from other people since a name, but I don’t want to put it out there because I don’t believe it.

“I can’t see it being that player. I am clueless.

“I hoped it was Kimmich because I love Kimmich. At the Bayern away game, he was the best player on the pitch by so far, it was crazy. It was like he was unpressable.”
