Chelsea intentions made clear after Chukwuemeka £40m release clause emerges
Fabrizio Romano has said Chelsea youngster Carney Chukwuemeka has a release clause in his contract, but the Blues have no intention of selling him if a club does not trigger it.
The midfielder was plagued by an injury-hit second season at the club and has recently been linked to AC Milan.
The Rossoneri are said to be looking for a loan, possibly with an option to make the move permanent.
The club have done a fair some of business with Chelsea in recent years but Romano has thrown cold water over the suggestion.

But it has been revealed that Chukwuemeka’s contract has a £40m release clause - far greater than his €4.5 million value as per FootballTransfers’ Estimated Transfer Value algorithm (ETV).
Romano said: “We’ve had many rumours about Carney. What we can say is that there is a release clause in his contract. They signed the player from Aston Villa a year ago and the release clause is there. It is £40m.
Chukwuemeka linked with move
“Chelsea are showing no intention to negotiate any other price for Carney. We know the market is always changing, but the position of Chelsea is very clear: they’ve got no intention of accepting loan proposals.

“When they’ve been approached by clubs the answer has always been: no thanks. Chelsea want to continue with Carney. He’s happy at Chelsea and not planning anything else.”
The youngster joined Chelsea for €18m in 2022, was linked with a move to Barcelona before leaving Aston Villa, but the Spanish giants were beaten to his signature by Chelsea.
The England U21 international mustered just a handful of starts last season, partly due to injury, with Mauricio Pochettino preferring Conor Gallagher and Cole Palmer in the No.10 position.
Chukwuemeka’s hopes of forcing his way into head coach Enzo Maresca’s plans took another blow, meanwhile, on Tuesday after Chelsea confirmed the signing of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City.
