Chelsea are moving swiftly to conclude a deal for Filip Jorgensen to avoid a potential hijack, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues are in the market for a new goalkeeper, who is supposed to provide competition for Robert Sanchez. The Spaniard is expected to begin the campaign as Enzo Maresca's No.1 due to his ability with the ball at his feet, but the Italian coach is keen to add another player ready for a potential starting spot.

This has led to Chelsea making last season's first-choice option Djordje Petrovic available for transfer, all while working on a deal to sign Villarreal shot-stopper Filip Jorgensen, with whom they have been linked for some time.

The Dane only recently penned a new long-term contract with the LaLiga side, but after admitting that he is honoured to be linked with the Blues, he quickly showed himself to be keen on the move to Stamford Bridge.

Earlier on Wednesday, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Chelsea had launched an opening bid of €20 million for the 22-year-old Swedish-born goalkeeper.

Chelsea agree terms

Since then, Romano has provided some more information on the state of play, revealing that Chelsea have already fully agreed personal terms with the player's camp.

The Italian transfer expert has also stated that the Blues are trying to strike a deal quickly, knowing full well that Jorgensen also has admirers elsewhere. According to Romano, Roberto de Zerbi's ambitious Olympique Marseille have enquired about the 22-year-old.

This has convinced Chelsea that they should be quick to conclude his signing, though it remains to be seen whether their €20m bid will be enough to sign one of LaLiga's most highly-rated talents.

Should they manage to secure his signature, Jorgensen should be braced for a fierce battle for the No.1 shirt at Stamford Bridge. Speaking to Ben Jacobs, current first choice Sanchez revealed that Maresca demands a lot of his shot-stoppers.

"The goalkeeper here needs to 'have a pair' and show a bit of personality. I think I am the right guy for that. Right now, I'm feeling really confident in training. It's looking good," Sanchez insisted.
