Marc Cucurella could leave Chelsea this summer despite the Spaniard's agent insisting that his client is happy at Stamford Bridge.

The 24-year-old has been surprisingly linked with a Blues exit for the best part of a year amid the club’s pursuit of a new left-back.

However, he played his way into form last season and has enjoyed a superb Euro 2024 campaign with Spain.

Furthermore, Aleix Pique, his agent, recently told Le Ser: “Cucurella is very comfortable and happy at Chelsea and in London.

“His idea is to stay at the club. Under normal circumstances, he will continue there.”

Despite this, Fabrizio Romano has reported that a summer exit is plausible. He told CaughtOffside: “In case the club decide to sell him, Cucurella would consider his options.

“It’s really quiet now, there are no talks, but for example clubs appeared at the end of the summer one year ago.

“Chelsea are happy with Cucurella but with big proposals, everything could be open for Cucurella or… Ben Chilwell.”

Despite being the club’s vice captain, Chilwell may also leave Chelsea this summer, with Manchester United reportedly among the clubs interested in signing him.

Chelsea blamed for Marc Cucurella’s form

BBC pundits Micah Richards and Gary Lineker have pointed to Chelsea’s turmoil as a reason for Cucurella’s fairly average form since moving to west London.

Richards told The Rest is Football Podcast: “Marc Cucurella is a massive talking point. At Brighton he was in a system, he could play as one of three centre-backs or at full-back and would always go forward and join in attacks.

“He looked like a really good player. He went to Chelsea and because it was so disorganised, he became a bit of a laughing stock. But in this tournament he’s been one of the best full-backs.”

Lineker agreed, adding: “It just shows you that when a club is in disarray, players suffer and it becomes really hard to perform in those circumstances. He’s had a really good tournament.”
