Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Renato Veiga, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian transfer expert broke the news on his X account out of the blue. Romano reports that Chelsea have already agreed most of the important details to sign the 20-year-old Portugal U21 international.
The Blues will pay €14 million to sign yet another talented youngster. Veiga primarily played as a defensive midfielder last season for Basel, but he will come in to offer depth across several defensive positions, also being capable of playing left-back and centre-back.

Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Brighton & Hove Albion winger Kaoru Mitoma this summer.

Armando Broja praise
Chelsea forward Armando Broja will become “one of the best strikers in Europe,” according to Albania football chief Armand Duka.
Broja, 22, is expected to leave Stamford Bridge on a permanent deal this summer, but the Blues have been warned of the consequences that a potential sale could have.
He told Sport Italia: “Armando is definitely one of the greatest talents in the entire history of Albanian football.
“I am a Milan fan and if Broja were to arrive at Milanello I would be doubly happy. It would undoubtedly be the best and strongest move that Milan could make in the summer market.
“The boy has incredible talent and I think he hasn’t shown his best yet. He needs to play at club level and I think Serie A and Milan represent an excellent opportunity for him to climb to the top of European football.
“He will be one of the best strikers in Europe. I am convinced that he is ready to try an experience in Italian football and if it happens I think it will be a success.”
Chelsea suffer Nico Williams blow
The 21-year-old has been linked with a move to Camp Nou for several months, but the Blaugrana have been put off a deal due to his €58 million release clause.
Chelsea are also interested in signing the Euro 2024 star this summer, but their chances of landing Williams have been reduced following recent reports from Spain.
SPORT have revealed that Williams is now firmly Barcelona’s priority transfer target. The Blaugrana have even told LaLiga that they are pursuing a move for the Athletic Club winger.
RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo and Liverpool’s Luis Diaz have also been linked with a move to Camp Nou, but Barcelona have reaffirmed their status that Williams is the only winger they want to sign.
Romelu Lukaku to Napoli?
Romelu Lukaku is determined to be reunited with Antonio Conte at Napoli, according to Corriere dello Sport.
However, the Serie A side will not pursue a move unless Victor Osimhen leaves the club this summer.
Chelsea’s interest in the Nigerian has cooled in recent weeks, with a move to PSG or Saudi Arabia two of his most likely next steps.
If Napoli retain the services of Osimhen, then Lukaku’s wish to link up with Conte will be denied.
Riccardo Calafiori chase almost over
Chelsea’s hopes of signing Riccardo Calafiori are all but over.
The Italy international is on the verge of joining Arsenal, with the move now “one step away,” as per Nicolo Schira.
The Gunners will pay a reported €50m to Bologna, while Calafiori will earn an annual salary of €3.5m on a contract that runs until 2029.
Al-Ittihad want Kepa
Chelsea could be handed a transfer lifeline following news that Al-Ittihad are interested in signing Kepa Arrizabalaga this summer.
According to Rudy Galetti, the Saudi Pro League are currently prioritising a move for Athletico Paranaense shot-stopper Bento, who has also been linked with a Premier League switch in recent months.
However, the Saudi Arabian club have also approached Kepa and Jan Oblak, with the pair considered viable alternatives to Bento.
