Todd Boehly's recruitment process at Chelsea has been hard to figure out. It has looked like a scattergun approach whereby the recruitment team brings in any talented player from anywhere on the globe.

This has led to Chelsea having 41 registered first team players on their books at the moment and facing a difficult battle to continue meeting the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

In order to be able to comply with those rules and be able to bring in new players the club needs to sell some of its current stars this summer. Especially, those deadwood players who are not in Enzo Maresca's plans.

Some of the big stars will be difficult to sell. But it seems like Chelsea are making progress in offloading one forgotten star who hasn't really featured a lot for the club since arriving in 2020 - when Roman Abramovic was at the reins.

According to Foot Mercato, Chelsea's Malang Sarr has been identified as a potential target for RC Lens.

The French side see him as an ideal candidate with a year left on his contract and having pretty much been frozen out at Chelsea.

Malang Sarr - Chelsea's forgotten star

Sarr was excluded from Chelsea's first team last season and in a pre-season press conference last year Mauricio Pochettino seemed to be unable to recognise him as one of his own players.

The 25 year old trained with Chelsea's U21 side last season and made no competitive matches.

That means Lens will be looking to get him on the cheap. With the site above claiming that Sarr sees this as 'great opportunity' to leave the club after a loan move to Le Havre fell through last year.

For Chelsea, they will just be keen to get one player off the wage bill and off the books. Sarr had shown promise when he arrived but after making just eight Premier League appearances for the Blues in the last four years it's clear he doesn't have a long-term future at the club.

The best solution for all parties involved is to part ways and for Sarr to sign for Lens.
