Barcelona are interested in Aaron Wan-Bissaka, according to a report.

The Blaugrana are in the market for a right-back. Last season, they had Joao Cancelo on loan from Man City and they would like to keep him around. This has thus far proved tricky due to the club's well-known financial difficulties.

Barcelona officially said goodbye to the player at the weekend as he nominally returned to his parent club. Cancelo is keen on staying in Catalunya and, as the feeling is mutual, Barcelona are in talks with Man City to make it happen.

Whether they will be able to pull it off, however, remains in doubt with the Blaugrana yet to do any major business. A renewed loan appears the most likely scenario, though Man City will surely give priority to permanent offers should they arrive from elsewhere.

This has forced Barcelona to also consider other potential options.

Wan-Bissaka to Barcelona?

According to CaughtOffside, one of the options viewed as a potential 'Plan B' by the Blaugrana is Man Utd outcast Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The right-back has been frequently linked with an exit already this summer, most prominently being associated with Galatasaray.

Tottenham's Emerson Royal and Girona's Arnau Martinez are also said to be on the shortlist of Hansi Flick and sporting director Deco. The priority, however, remains sealing a deal for Cancelo.

The problem is that Saudi clubs are very keen on the Portuguese, so Barcelona may be forced to start laying the groundwork for a move for one of their other targets. It remains to be seen whether the Catalans could even afford someone like Wan-Bissaka.

A price tag has thus far not been set. The 26-year-old currently has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €15.2 million, down from a 2021 peak of €57m. The DR Congo international has just a year left to run on his contract and Man Utd are keen to secure a fee for him this summer.
