EXCLUSIVE: Man Utd board threaten to defy Ten Hag with Casemiro decision
Manchester United midfielder Casemiro is determined to remain at the club but his future hangs in the balance, with the board considering going against the wishes of manager Erik ten Hag by brokering a sale, FootballTransfers can exclusively reveal.
The 32-year-old was signed from Real Madrid in 2022 and immediately established himself as a fan favourite at Old Trafford with a series of outstanding performances.
The 2023/24 campaign, though, proved more difficult for Casemiro as a series of injuries disrupted his rhythm. On top of this, he was forced into an unfamiliar central defensive role because of an injury crisis at the club, and his lack of knowledge of the position told as he struggled in this makeshift position.

He hit boiling point when he was left out of the starting XI for the FA Cup final and did not even make the matchday squad following an outburst.
Reports have indicated that the Brazil international is one of the players who has been earmarked to leave Man Utd this summer, but FootballTransfers has been told by a source close to the club that the player is “determined” to redeem himself.

Casemiro set for showdown talks
Casemiro has spoken to Ten Hag and has expressed his desire to remain at the club, apologising for his poor performances last season. The player said he was dissatisfied with his performance and wants to make amends.
The manager wants to keep him. He feels that a fit Lisandro Martinez and an in-form Casemiro are key for his side next term.
The Brazilian, who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €20 million, addressed his teammates after the FA Cup final and apologised for his behaviour.
He faces showdown talks with Ineos imminently, FootballTransfers understands. The reason for these discussions is unclear, but it could be to inform the player of interested clubs.
