Man Utd on red alert as Romano drops update that will delight Ten Hag
Adrien Rabiot's contract talks with Juventus have reached an impasse, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The French midfielder is currently in Germany where he has so far played a key role for his country at Euro 2024. Rabiot has enjoyed a very impressive 12 months and is probably in the best moment of his career right now.
Strangely, all of this is happening against a backdrop of significant uncertainty. On Monday, Rabiot officially became a free agent as his Juventus contract expired. This, by itself, is not a particularly big deal.

This isn't the first time Rabiot and Juventus left it late when it came to renewing his deal, which for the past few seasons has only ever been extended by a further year. What makes this summer different, however, is that it currently looks unlikely that the Bianconeri will be able to tie him down again.
Romano on Rabiot
At least that is according to Fabrizio Romano, who reports that talks between Juventus and Rabiot remain deadlocked. The Italian giants feel they have put their best proposal on the table, but it does not appear to be good enough for the midfielder and his camp, with eccentric mother Veronique leading the negotiations.
Romano states that the Old Lady have offered him a financial package of over €7 million per season, but that Rabiot has thus far given no indication that he will accept the fresh terms.

The Italian transfer expert also states that Rabiot is already talking to other clubs and that he will make a decision on his future after the Euros. Earlier on Tuesday, Romano revealed that Juventus are set to sign Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram, so they already have a replacement for Rabiot waiting in the wings.
The news of Rabiot's contract impasse will be music to the ears of Erik ten Hag, who has wanted to sign the Frenchman for Man Utd since he arrived at Old Trafford. Could his long-time pursuit finally be successful this year? It remains to be seen, but this is certainly an encouraging update.
