OFFICIAL: Man Utd complete signing of Joshua Zirkzee
Manchester United have officially completed the signing of Bologna and Netherlands forward Joshua Zirkzee.
The 23-year-old has become the first signing of the INEOS era at Old Trafford after Man Utd and Bologna agreed on a deal worth around €42.5 million spread over three years.
Zirkzee had a €40m release clause in his contract, but the Red Devils decided to open formal negotiations with their Serie A counterparts to get more favourable payment terms. While they will now have to pay slightly more, the Premier League giants will do so over the course of three years rather than all in one instalment.
Man Utd were eager to sign a new number nine following Anthony Martial’s departure on a free transfer and they have purchased the Zirkzee to compete with Rasmus Hojlund for a starting spot at Old Trafford.

The Dutchman scored 12 goals and provided six assists in 37 appearances for Bologna last season as he helped the club qualify for the Champions League for the first time since the 1964-65 campaign.
Zirkzee has signed a five-year deal at Man Utd with the option for a sixth and he is expected to link up with his new team-mates ahead of the Red Devils’ pre-season tour of the USA.
The former Bayern Munich forward has become Man Utd’s first signing of the summer, although his countryman Matthijs de Ligt is also expected to join the club after positive talks with Erik ten Hag.
