Man Utd Transfer News: Olmo TALKS, De Ligt DECISION, Zirkzee DONE, Romano makes PROMISE
The latest Man Utd football transfer news updates, with the hottest updates on all the potential new signings and sales at Old Trafford, including Dani Olmo, Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee.
Zirkzee to Man Utd: Transfer complete!
Joshua Zirkzee’s move to Manchester United is done according to Fabrizio Romano, with the Netherlands striker set to become the first signing of the Ineos era at Old Trafford.
Romano took to X to report: “Joshua Zirkzee to Manchester United, here we go!
“Man United will NOT trigger the clause but pay slightly above €40m with better payment terms, in three years.
“Zirkzee signs until June 2029 with option for further season.
“First signing of INEOS new era.”
Man Utd to battle Bayern over Olmo
Manchester United and Bayern Munich are both interested in signing RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo this summer, FootballTransfers understands.
Sources close to the deal have revealed that the two giants are both interested in a deal, with the Red Devils even having held talks as they pursue a big-money move.
Chelsea and Manchester City have both registered interest in Olmo previously, although a move to Stamford Bridge or the Etihad Stadium now seems unlikely.
Olmo has a €60 million release clause that is active until 20 July, with interest in the player expected to ramp up after Euro 2024.
De Ligt ‘definitely’ wants Man Utd
Manchester United have been told that Matthijs de Ligt “definitely” wants to join them in a revelation made by Sky Sports Deutschland.
The Red Devils have been chasing the Netherlands international defender for some time but have yet to agree terms with Bayern Munich over a deal for the 24-year-old.
An agreement on the player’s contract, though, has been in place for several days, but now the news is that De Ligt is set upon a deal that will take him to the Red Devils.
This transfer is set to be a standalone deal that does not have any bearing on United’s desire to move for Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite, though that deal looks improbable with the valuations of the two clubs being incredibly distant.
United vs Real Madrid for Leny Yoro
Leny Yoro is another centre-back on the radar of Man Utd, and again according to Sky Sports Deutschland, there is a very real prospect of the teenaged Lille defender moving to Old Trafford.
Where De Ligt is set upon a deal with the Red Devils, there is far more uncertainty over Yoro’s decision, though.
“Leny Yoro has not made a decision yet. Understand it is now about whether he will move to Manchester United or Real Madrid!” Florian Plettenburg claims via X.
“These two teams are currently in the race for the 18-year-old top talent from Lille.”
Real Madrid are pushing to sign the France U21 star, who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €28.5m, but after lowballing Lille with a €20m bid, the Ligue 1 club want Yoro to sign for Man Utd. The Red Devils have offered a total package of around €60m for the youngster.
The trouble? Yoro only has a year left on his contract and appears to be willing to wait for Los Blancos to snap him up as a free agent.
United will have to work hard to work hard to get this deal done.
Greenwood to Lazio? ‘The devil’s advice is eaten by the fox’
Another player whose future seems to rest between two clubs is outgoing Man Utd attacker Mason Greenwood.
The once-capped England player is being tracked by Marseille and Lazio, and while the Ligue 1 side seemed favourites to land the 22-year-old, criticism by the city’s Mayor appears to have stalled a move at least.
Lazio chief Angeli Fabiani, meanwhile, has broken his silence on the deal in a cryptic fashion.
In quotes relayed by TuttoMercatoWeb, he said: “We were already dealing with him last year. We are still in contact with Manchester United. There are still hassles but this is part of the football market, the devil’s advice is eaten by the fox and I am not a fox.”
Romano promises Casemiro update
Brazil international midfielder Casemiro could still leave Man Utd to sign for a club in the Saudi Pro League, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The football transfer news reporter stated on X: “Saudi Pro League clubs interest in Casemiro, still very strong as reported.
“More will follow in the next days, still no formal proposals but genuine interest.”
