Man Utd 'knocking on the door' of ANOTHER ex-Real Madrid star
Manchester United are 'knocking on the door' of Miguel Gutierrez, according to Spanish media.
The Spanish left-back is coming off a stunning season with Girona, having joined the Catalans from Real Madrid in 2022. The 22-year-old was everpresent as Michel's side qualified for the Champions League for the first time in club history, notching two goals and nine assists in all competitions.
This, naturally, has given rise to intense transfer speculation, not least because Real Madrid possess a buy-back clause of just €8 million for the defender. Though Los Blancos are not desperate to do left-back business this summer, there could yet be a reshuffle in that position depending on what happens with Alphonso Davies and Fran Garcia, who is now the subject of Premier League links.

Gutierrez has been touted as a potential option for the Champions League winners, but there are also plenty of other sides who hold a keen interest in the Spaniard.
Man Utd 'knocking on the door'
Gutierrez has at times been linked with Arsenal and FootballTransfers understands that he is indeed a player admired by the Gunners. However, they are now on the verge of signing Riccardo Calafiori, who will provide cover in that position and at centre-back.
Instead, Man Utd and Borussia Dortmund are 'knocking on the door' of Gutierrez, according to AS. The Red Devils are known to be in the market for a young left-back, while the Black and Yellow are trying to replace Aston Villa-bound Ian Maatsen after failing to make his loan move from Chelsea permanent.

Thus far, there has been little concrete movement, but this could change should Real Madrid decide to 'torpedo' him, as the report puts it. Gutierrez boasts a €35m release clause, so if Los Blancos were to trigger their bargain buy-back, they could potentially flip him for a lot of money.
As things stand, Gutierrez is not pushing to leave Girona, with the Catalans remaining his 'priority.' Things could move quickly, however, especially should he impress at the upcoming Olympics.
