Man Utd Transfer News Today: AGREEMENT reached, MORE deals expected but there's a PROBLEM
The latest Manchester United football transfer news updates, with the hottest updates on all the potential new signings and sales at Old Trafford, including Noussair Mazraoui, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Sofyan Amrabat.
Mazraoui verbal agreement reached
For weeks it seemed like Noussair Mazraoui was heading to West Ham United. But now the Moroccan international is closing in on a move to Old Trafford.
Manchester United have accelerated their moves for the right-back as they look to strengthen Erik ten Hag's options.
Now according to Foot Mercato, Manchester United have reached a verbal agreement with Bayern Munich in order to bring in Mazraoui.
According to Foot Mercato reporter Santi Aouna, Manchester United have agreed a €25million (£21million) deal for the services of Mazraoui, who has also agreed to join the club.
Now it seems the only thing left to sort out for United is the minor details of the transfer and how the fee will be laid out.
Shoretire on the move
Manchester United wanted to keep Shola Shoretire at the club this summer after his contract expired at the end of June.
The club held talks to extend Shoretire's deal however they were not able to come to an agreement.
Shoretire has always been highly regarded at the club but the 20 year old has made the decision to look for pastures new.
His next destination seems to be Greece with the player agreeing a deal to join PAOK according to Fabrizio Romano.
According to Romano, Shoretire received interest from the MLS, England, Spain and Saudi Arabia but opted to accept PAOK's offer.
He will join the Greek club as a free agent.
Wan-Bissaka 'more likely'
It's no secret Aaron Wan-Bissaka is surplus to requirements at Old Trafford. United have already made moves to pursue other right back targets and they are actively looking to offload the defender.
One of the likeliest candidates to sign Wan-Bissaka are West Ham United.
According to Hammers News, West Ham United are looking 'more likely' to conclude a deal to sign Wan-Bissaka over the club's other target, Jhon Duran.
The two clubs are in discussions over a purported deal with United thought to be holding out for €17.7m in order to sell Wan-Bissaka.
It remains to be seen whether West Ham can come to an agreement with United but the fact that talks are still ongoing is an encouraging sign.
Sales proving difficult
Man Utd need to sell before they can buy after splashing more than €100m on Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee, but big-name sales are proving difficult.
The departure of Wan-Bissaka, for example, is crucial to facilitate the signing of Mazraoui, but other potential exit candidates such as Harry Maguire and Antony are unwilling to leave their lucrative contracts at Old Trafford.
Indeed, Maguire is expected to stay with Man Utd this summer, which could make complicate the Red Devils' already stalling pursuit of Matthijs de Ligt even further.
Sofyan Amrabat makes Man Utd 'priority'
Sofyan Amrabat spent last season on loan at Manchester United. It is fair to say that Amrabat struggled at times in United colours despite helping Ten Hag to FA Cup glory.
Upon the expiry over his loan deal things have been quiet around his future. It is moot whether United are willing to bring him back to Old Trafford with Amrabat having struggled to break into Ten Hag's starting XI.
However, the Moroccan midfielder has not given up on his desire to continue playing at Old Trafford.
Corriere dello Sport reports that Amrabat has made moving to United his 'priority' with Fiorentina having accepted his desire to leave the club.
The report claims United have held talks to bring back Amrabat to the club but there has been nothing concrete in those discussions. A permanent or even another loan deal is still a possibility at this stage.
Xavi Simons decision expected
Manchester United are still in the running for Xavi Simons. The PSG attacker who spent last season on loan at RB Leipzig has attracted plenty of attention this summer after his impressive 2023/24 campaign supplemented by his performances at Euro 2024.
Erik ten Hag has been a long-term admirer of Simons and United have held talks with the player about a potential move.
However, how those talks have progressed is not clear. What is clear is that Simons will be expected to make a decision on his future very soon.
According to Sky Sports Germany reporter, Florian Plettenberg, Simons is expected to make his decision on his future in the next few days.
It is expected he will be moving to RB Leipzig on a permanent basis.
