Mazraoui makes Man Utd ‘top priority’

Fabrizio Romano says that Noussair Mazraoui has made it his goal to move to Manchester United this summer, explaining that is part of the reason the Morocco international turned down the opportunity to move to West Ham.

“Manchester United have obviously signed Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee. What’s next? The situation of the right-back,” he said.

“Noussair Mazraoui has given total priority to Man Utd. He would love to go to Man Utd, he would love to be reunited with Erik ten Hag, so Mazraoui is waiting for United. The agreement on personal terms will not be a problem.”

Wan-Bissaka key to Man Utd’s next move

A deal for Mazraoui will only be viable if Aaron Wan-Bissaka leaves the club, and even if an agreement with Bayern can’t be reached, United have lined up two other possibilities.

“The crucial step will be what happens with Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Man Utd will only sign a new right-back if he leaves. He’s got a year left on his contract,” Romano continued.

“There’s interest from Inter, that’s true, but he’s also prepared to wait in the next weeks to see what opportunities there are. Maybe West Ham? Mazraoui will not be going there. The deal was advanced between clubs, but not with the player, who was giving clear priority for Man Utd.

“The relationship between the agents of West Ham and Wan-Bissaka are excellent, but it depends on the player.

Denzel Dumfries is appreciated but at the moment, the idea of a swap deal for Wan-Bissaka has only been discussed by intermediaries. Some are trying to present the deal to the clubs, but it’s still not in its advanced stages.

“The third right-back considered by Man Utd – they’ve had some contact with the agent of the players – is Monaco’s Vanderson. He’s considered too expensive, Monaco want important money for him. He’s on the list of several clubs. Tottenham have met his agents, Man Utd met his agents – the interest in Vanderson is concrete.”

De Ligt a matter of time

Romano seems to indicate that Man Utd’s deal for Matthijs de Ligt is just a matter of time.

“The agent of Mazraoui, Rafaela Pimenta, is the same important agent of Matthijs de Ligt. What does it mean? The conversation between Man Utd and the agent of Mazraoui is at the same time the same conversation they’re having with De Ligt’s agent,” the football transfer news expert says.

“He’s already agreed to personal terms with Man Utd and De Ligt is just waiting for them to complete some outgoings in order to accelerate the deal.

“Bayern are insisting on €50 million guaranteed for De Ligt while Man Utd are willing to offer something like €35m plus add ons. So we have to see what happens.

“Jonathan Tah of Bayer Leverkusen is still hoping to go to Bayern but it depends on the exit of a centre-back. Many things will depend on De Ligt, but conversations are positive between Rafaela Pimenta.”

Branthwaite deal back ON?

Could a move for Jarrad Branthwaite potentially come back on? There are signs that it could.

Firstly, Branthwaite is refusing to sign a new contract at Everton unless they match the wages Man Utd were going to offer him.

Perhaps more importantly, though, the Toffees appear to have lined up his successor. Le Progres states that Jake O’Brien is close to joining the Merseyside club from Lyon, where he shone last summer.

Xavi Simons opens door to Man Utd

Xavi Simons may be destined to join RB Leipzig on loan this summer, but the Manchester Evening News reports that the PSG attacker’s decision will “tee up” the possibility of a switch to Old Trafford in 2025.

It reports: “Manchester United target Xavi Simons is eyeing up a move to the Premier League in 2025 as rumours continue to circulate over his future.

“The Red Devils have been linked with the 21-year-old this summer after impressing for RB Leipzig on loan last season and at Euro 2024 with Netherlands.”

United were previously linked with a loan move for the former Barcelona youth.

Maguire backs Yoro to become a star

Harry Maguire says that Leny Yoro has what it takes to shine at Man Utd.

Signed from Lille for €62 million, Yoro enjoyed a strong debut against Rangers in a recent friendly.

And Maguire told The Telegraph how talented he thinks the young Frenchman is.

“We must remind ourselves he is really young. It’s our job as senior centre backs, my job, to help him along, communicate well, let him know what to expect,” he said.

“He has every attribute of a centre-back in the modern game.”

Fulham still want McTominay

Although Fulham have had a bid worth €20m (£17m) rejected for Man Utd midfielder Scott McTominay, the Cottagers are determined to revisit the deal, Sky Sports reports.

United have not put the Scotland international up for sale but there is “every expectation” that Fulham will revisit the deal.

The London club believe that the Red Devils could part with the midfielder given their need to raise money by making sales.

Toney deal off the table

Ivan Toney no longer has the possibility of leaving Brentford this summer, with an injury to Igor Thiago putting the brakes on a move for the England star, Sky Sports reports.

Toney has been linked to Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea, but with the Brazilian set to miss months, the Bees are ready to gamble and retain the forward, despite this being the last year of his contract.
