Romano confirms Xavi Simons transfer saga is '99% over' amid Man Utd links
Regardless of what club Xavi Simons joins on loan this summer, he will leave PSG permanently next year, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Dutchman's future is, at last, on the verge of being resolved. Initially, he wanted to make a decision on his next club before Euro 2024 but ultimately decided to push back his decision until after the tournament.
One thing, however, has been known for some time, though, and that is that he will once again leave PSG on loan this summer. The French giants exercised their buy-back option last year to bring him back from PSV for just €4 million and subsequently sent him to RB Leipzig.

Simons excelled in the Bundesliga and put his name firmly on the map for Europe's elite. In recent months, the 21-year-old has been linked with the likes of Arsenal, Bayern Munich and his former youth club Barcelona. More recently, Man Utd reportedly joined his list of suitors, while Leipzig are also desperate to keep him at the club for another season.
Now, only two clubs remain seriously in the race, according to Fabrizio Romano. In the coming days, Simons will make a decision on whether to rejoin Leipzig or move to Bayern.
Simons to decide and leave PSG for good
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano stated: "Xavi will focus on deciding his future and next week could already be really important. Two clubs are still leading the race, Bayern and Leipzig. These two clubs are pushing and they have an advantage, that both clubs have been pushing for a long time, for months."
"Simons already decided to leave PSG on loan. Simons will probably leave PSG next summer, in 2025, on a permanent transfer, so between PSG and Simons it's 99 per cent over. Now, it's time for a loan and next summer will be probably time for a permanent transfer."

"When you ask me about Man Utd reports, it's true that Man Utd have an interest. Man Utd have asked about information on the situation of Simons, but they did that about they confirmed Erik ten Hag as their manager. This is why they're not leading the race, because they started the conversation late in presenting their project."
