Arsenal are reported to have made an offer of €25m plus bonuses for the teenager.

Carvalho hit the headlines in June when he made his professional debut for Internacional at the age of just 16.

The attacking midfielder became the youngest player for Internacional in the 21st century, breaking the record of former AC Milan wonderkid Alexandre Pato.

Arsenal to sign another Brazilian?

Arsenal have been very active in the Brazilian market in recent years thanks to Edu, signing the likes of Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus.

Could the Gunners now be about to sign another Gabriel?

Arsenal also signed Marquinhos, who is on loan at Fluminense in Brazil.

The Gunners have a big tradition of signing Brazilians going further back, with David Luiz, Julio Baptista, Sylvinho, Gilberto Silva and Edu himself notable names from the past.

Arsenal have been reasonably active in the summer transfer window so far.

They signed Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna for around €50m, beating the likes of Juventus, Chelsea and Real Madrid for one of the best defenders at Euro 2024.

Arsenal are also in talks to sign Spain midfielder Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad, with that deal expected to go through before the end of the transfer window.

The Gunners also want to sign a number nine before the end of the month as they work on constructing a team to win the Premier League this season.

Arsenal have finished second two years in a row under Mikel Arteta but the feeling is that this season could be the one where they end a 20-year wait for the Premier League trophy.
