Arsenal agree SURPRISE Deadline Day deal as priority deal falls through

Arsenal are poised to complete the signing of Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto on Transfer Deadline Day.
Mikel Arteta’s priority to replace Aaron Ramsdale as backup to David Raya at the Emirates Stadium was Espanyol shot-stopper Joan Garcia, which was first broken exclusively by FootballTransfers in early July.
Discussions have stalled with the Spanish side, however, and this led Arsenal to explore other possibilities on the market.

The Athletic reports that the Gunners will instead sign Neto from Bournemouth, with the deal not set to include any purchase option.

Romano confirms Neto interest
Fabrizio Romano, meanwhile, suggests that the move for Espanyol keeper Garcia is not yet dead, but that Neto is lined up should no agreement be found.
“Neto's move to Arsenal has been verbally agreed on loan until June 2025 with no option to buy clause, no obligation,” the football transfer news reporter stated.
“Straight loan, salary paid by Arsenal and club ready to proceed with medical/signatures if Joan Garcia deal collapses today.”
The Athletic, meanwhile, indicates that the Gunners are seeking a second goalkeeper signing on Transfer Deadline Day, with Wigan Athletic’s Sam Tickle and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Dan Bentley under consideration to become the third-choice shot-stopper at the Emirates.
A successful summer
Arsenal have completed three signings already this summer, including the permanent addition of David Raya from Brentford.
In addition, they have also picked up Italy international defender Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna and have secured the signing of Euro 2024 winner Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad after protracted negotiations.
Arteta had hoped to add another wide attacker to his ranks, but it appears that Arsenal will fall short on that count.
