Cole Palmer has officially signed a two-year contract extension at Chelsea.

Palmer’s existing deal at Chelsea was due to expire in June 2031, but he has committed his future to the club by extending terms until June 2033.

The 22-year-old joined the Blues from Manchester City for €47 million last summer and he enjoyed a sublime debut campaign at Stamford Bridge, notching 40 goal contributions in just 45 appearances in all competitions.

Palmer’s form at Chelsea in 2023-24 earned him a first senior England call-up and he was included in the Three Lions’ squad for the 2024 European Championship, scoring his nation’s only goal during their 2-1 loss to Spain in the final.

Palmer now has the longest contract of any player in the Chelsea first-team squad, overtaking Enzo Fernandez, whose current deal runs until 2032.

He told the club's website: "I’m delighted to sign this new deal. I achieved a lot in my first season here and hopefully I can continue to experience great things at this club, both on a personal level and in terms of bringing success and trophies to Chelsea."

Chelsea’s summer transfer business

Tying Palmer down to a new deal is one of several key moves that Chelsea have made so far this summer.

The Blues have signed nine new players, including Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto for an initial fee of €60m, while they are also in talks to sign Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, KRC Genk’s Mike Penders and Gremio’s Gabriel Mec.

However, their pursuit of Atletico Madrid forward Samu Omorodion is over. A deal was agreed for the Spain U21 international to join the west London club for €40m, but the move has now collapsed due to issues regarding personal terms.

As a result, Conor Gallagher has now been asked to return to London, with his transfer to Atletico Madrid now in doubt.

In a bid to resolve the situation, Chelsea are discussing the possibility of signing Joao Felix on a permanent deal, which would allow Gallagher to finally seal a move to the Wanda Metropolitano.

Furthermore, Chelsea are also looking to sell Romelu Lukaku, Trevoh Chalobah and Kepa Arrizabalaga before the summer transfer window ends, while Barcelona and Crystal Palace are reportedly both interested in signing Blues midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka.
