Chelsea launch official loan offer for Man Utd's Sancho as Ornstein reports surprise twist
Chelsea have submitted an official bid to sign Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho, according to multiple sources, including Fabrizio Romano and David Ornstein.
The Blues have ramped up talks to sign the ex-England international in recent days and they have now lodged an initial loan proposal.
Romano posted on X: “Chelsea submit official bid to Manchester Utd for Jadon Sancho.
BREAKING NEWS! Transfer Deadline Day Live! Minute-by-minute updates of all the biggest deals
“Understand it’s [an] initial loan proposal, similar to terms offered by Juventus but total package higher.
“Sancho, OPEN and keen to join Chelsea so up to the clubs/Man Utd to decide.”
Ornstein subsequently added additional detail to these reports, indicating that "Chelsea expect to reach an agreement" with Man Utd to sign the player.
Crucially, he wrote for The Athletic that the loan deal will have an obligation to buy, though the exact fee remains under discussion.
DEADLINE DAY: Every confirmed transfer around Europe
Despite the recent attacking additions of Joao Felix, Pedro Neto and Marc Guiu, Chelsea remain interested in signing a new forward and Sancho has quickly emerged as a legitimate transfer target.
Talks remain ongoing, but the Englishman is eager to seal a Stamford Bridge switch and Chelsea are evidently pushing to sign him.
Furthermore, the Blues are now awaiting the green light from Victor Osimhen, with Al-Ahli seemingly focused on finalising a deal for wantaway Brentford forward Ivan Toney.
The England international is currently undergoing a medical in London ahead of a proposed €42 million move to the Saudi Pro League.
Carney Chukwuemeka to Man Utd?
In addition to rumours of Raheem Sterling potentially joining Man Utd in a separate deal, the Red Devils have now expressed their interest in Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka.
That is according to Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth, who has revealed that Man Utd are eyeing a potential late swoop for the England youth international.
Chukwuemeka has been frozen out by Maresca, and he has been linked with both Barcelona and Crystal Palace over the past few weeks as Chelsea look to offload him.
The former Aston Villa academy star has four years left on his current deal with the Blues, but an exit before the end of Deadline Day remains a possibility.
