Antonio Conte’s side have been chasing Lukaku for several months, but they are yet to reach an agreement with Chelsea, who are currently demanding a fee of €35 million.

Napoli had originally submitted an initial loan offer for the 31-year-old, but they have now lodged a fresh permanent bid worth around €30m, according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Serie A giants are now waiting to hear Chelsea’s response.

Lukaku has spent the last two seasons on loan in Italy, with the Belgian cast aside at Stamford Bridge after a controversial interview with Sky Italia aired just months after his big-money return to Chelsea.

He spent the 2023-24 campaign on loan at AS Roma and he netted 13 goals in 32 league games for the club as they finished sixth in Serie A.

Romelu Lukaku to leave Chelsea?

Since returning to Chelsea this summer, Lukaku has been forced to train with the club’s exile group, which also contains Raheem Sterling, Trevoh Chalobah and Ben Chilwell.

However, he is edging closer to a summer exit and it’s believed that a move to Napoli will happen before the end of Transfer Deadline Day on 30 August.

Chelsea are interested in signing Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, but a swap deal has been ruled out and the Blues are currently exploring the possibility of signing the Nigerian on loan.

However, Osimhen is believed to be against the idea of a loan deal, while he isn’t willing to lower his €11m-per-year wage demands. As a result, a move to Stamford Bridge hasn’t yet been materialised.

Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal and clubs in Saudi Arabia are also interested in signing Osimhen this summer.
