Dewsbury-Hall, 25, joined the Blues from Leicester City at the start of July, with Enzo Maresca believed to have pushed the club to sign him.

The Italian worked with Dewsbury-Hall at Leicester last season and he played a key role as the Foxes secured promotion back to the Premier League.

The 25-year-old notched 12 goals and 14 assists in 44 Championship appearances as he established himself as one of the division’s elite talents.

Dewsbury-Hall’s form last season earned him a €35.4 million move to Chelsea, and Fofana has revealed that he played a role in the move.

The pair spent one season together at Leicester and remain close friends.

Before news of Dewsbury-Hall’s transfer to Chelsea was announced, Fofana posted the number 22 alongside a Foxes emoji on his Instagram Story - all but confirming the deal.

When asked about this by Football.London, Fofana replied: “Yeah. I am an agent, a secret agent!

“I talked with him before and I am happy because I played with him in Leicester, he's my friend. We don't just play together. I talked with him and told him: 'If you refuse Chelsea, you're crazy man'. He signed and I'm happy.”

Dewsbury-Hall is one of seven new players to have been signed by Chelsea so far this summer, along with Filip Jorgensen, Omari Kellyman, Renato Veiga, Caleb Wiley, Marc Guiu and Tosin Adarabioyo.

The Blues are also targeting a move for KRC Genk goalkeeper Mike Penders, while Boca Juniors defender Aaron Anselmino has already completed his medical ahead of his transfer to the club.

As for Fofana, he spent the entirety of the 2023-24 season sidelined with an ACL injury, but he is back to full fitness and looks set to become a key player under Maresca.
