Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique does not have the midfielder in his plans for the season ahead but the Ligue 1 champions still remain firm on their €60 million valuation.

Agent Jorge Mendes is in England, and it’s thought that a line of communication will be opened once again regarding a deal for his client.

Sources inform us that there is a degree of confidence a deal will be agreed upon, but likely towards the end of the window when Man Utd can get better terms.

There is an acknowledgement by PSG that Ugarte will leave this window. We have been regularly told by those at the club that Man Utd are not the only side at the table for the 22-year-old.

Ugarte is hoping to join the Old Trafford club after being informed that he will receive limited game-time under Enrique and personal terms are not expected to be a problem.

The Red Devils are looking for a holding midfielder to play alongside Kobbie Mainoo and the No.6 Ugarte is seen as a top target.

Meanwhile, the Clarets want around €25 million for the Norwegian Berge who joined the Lancashire side last year from Sheffield United.

Man Utd youngsters get 2024/25 chance

It comes after our story this week that Man Utd youngsters Harry Amass and Toby Collyer will be staying with the club for the new season, FootballTransfers has been told.

Both the players have been in excellent form for the club during pre-season and we understand that there are no plans to send either out on loan, meaning both will be playing in either the Under-21s or the senior squad.

The 17-year-old Amass had started in all three of the Red Devils' pre-season tour games but was cut from the side in the Community Shield defeat against Manchester City on Saturday. Collyer, meanwhile, came off the bench in the second half.

Erik ten Hag spoke about the need for 'seniority' after the game. "I think we had some seniority there," he said. "To start, I think that was the idea. We had a plan how to deal with it and I think also that went how we thought.

"I think all the full-backs, although not all were full-backs, like Licha, he did good as a full-back. Diogo is the full-back and Facundo did well as the full-back. We are pleased with those performances.

"You need squad depth, you need players who can play in multi-functional positions and when there is an emergency you have to have the option to play players to play in different positions."
