EXCLUSIVE: Fulham and Andre deal on verge of collapse
Fulham have left negotiations for Fluminense midfielder Andre after weeks of talks, FootballTransfers has been told.
The Premier League side had engaged the Brazil international’s club once again after Joao Palhinha completed a move for Bayern Munich for €51 million in July.
Personal terms were not expected to be a problem as Fulham and Andre’s side had kept a line of communication going for the entirety of this year.
Fulham CEO Alistair Mackintosh and head coach Marco Silva had been at the heart of discussions for the 23-year-old, following his failed move to the club during the January transfer window.
The prospect of a move rolled onto this summer. We are told Fluminense were holding out for €30m but the terms of payment and overall fee has stifled talks, with the West London club offering €25m and not being prepared to go any higher.
Those close to Andre deem it very unlikely at this point and are already planning for a future for Andre without Fulham.
Fulham have had talks for Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay over a possible switch and even made a bid. But Erik ten Hag recently stated he was happy to have the Scottish international with him in the side.
"He's performing very good. He scored so many goals, but not only scoring so many goals, he’s giving, also in other areas, the team a lot. Yeah, and also for Sunday, he's a consideration.”
The side have brought in Arsenal player Emile Smith Rowe for a club-record €39m this window and will remain active for another player to come in to fill the No.6 role.
Smith Rowe on Fulham switch
Smith Rowe about his move to Craven Cottage via the club's media: "I'm finally here, so I'm really happy for me and my family – it's a good moment," Smith Rowe told club media. "I'm really excited, I just wanted to get here as quickly as possible so I could get going with my teammates.
"Listening to the project, speaking to the manager, and seeing what players we have here already, I think it's an exciting project for me, and definitely the perfect step for my career going forward."
