Brentford are holding firm on their eye-watering valuation of Ivan Toney, but a transfer could yet materialise this summer, according to a report.

The England international's future is no closer to being resolved. Already in the spring, the 28-year-old publically announced his desire to join a 'top club' but little in the way of concrete offers has materialised.

Due to his age and general concerns about Profit and Sustainability Rules, elite Premier League outfits have so far shied away from tabling bids for the striker.

Recently, it was revealed by Fabrizio Romano that Toney has become a top target for the Saudi Pro League, but remains unclear whether he would be prepared to move to the Middle East.

However, he might not even need to consider this possibility. According to The Independent, interest in Toney remains, with Man Utd and Chelsea still keeping tabs on the Three Lions star.

Brentford hold firm but deal possible

Contrary to reports that have proliferated over the summer, the above-mentioned outlet states that Brentford have not slashed their asking price for Toney.

The Bees are still demanding as much as €70 million for the 28-year-old, which is a fee no Premier League side is prepared to pay. However, a deal this summer remains possible.

Chelsea could revisit Toney should their negotiations with Napoli over Victor Osimhen not come to a satisfying conclusion, while Man Utd are known to be in the market for a proven Premier League striker even if the current priority remains adding a midfielder.

It is claimed that those two are prepared to play the waiting game to see if Brentford will soften their stance towards the end of the window knowing that Toney will otherwise depart the club on a free transfer next summer.

The sides in question would be prepared to accept a loan with an obligation to buy the striker next summer, but only on favourable conditions and at a fair price. Toney could yet depart Brentford, but the Bees will have to lower their demands if they are to recoup a fee.
