The Dutchman has arrived from Feyenoord and he will be hoping to close the gap to Manchester City and Arsenal during his debut campaign at Anfield.

Liverpool finished nine points behind Pep Guardiola’s side last season, and it will be intriguing to see how Slot navigates his first season in the Premier League.

How Liverpool will line up in 2024-25

Alisson is arguably the best goalkeeper in world football and he will remain as Liverpool’s number one under Slot.

The Reds’ back four will also feature some huge names, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Andrew Robertson poised to start in 2024-25. One major question that Slot must answer is who will partner Van Dijk.

Ibrahima Konate is the obvious answer, but Jarell Quansah impressed last season and has performed well in pre-season. As a result, the Englishman could be favoured.

In midfield, Liverpool are yet to sign an out-and-out defensive midfielder, meaning Wataru Endo and Alexis Mac Allister will compete for the number six role.

The Argentine should be preferred, while Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones will play as slightly more advanced central midfielders.

Mohamed Salah is a shoe-in on the right flank, but Slot has several questions regarding the rest of his front three.

Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz are all in contention to start alongside Salah, and there isn’t a clear answer on who will get the nod.

However, Jota has impressed in pre-season, while Gakpo is Slot’s countryman, so they may hold an edge.
