The 22-year-old Swede has typically featured as a central midfielder for Nordsjaelland last season but has moved into a full-back role in the early matches of this term, with Liverpool keeping a close eye on his progress.

FootballTransfers has learned that the Reds have watched the player extensively in recent months. Indeed, one of the attributes that Svensson possesses that has caught their attention is his ability to slot into numerous different positions, while they are also impressed with his physicality, which they believe is ideal for the Premier League.

Data analytics firm SciSports compares Svensson favourably to the likes of Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga and Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo, indicating that the youngster has a similar style to these players.

Liverpool are not the only club who have been taking an interest in Svensson, though. Prior to the summer transfer window opening, he was linked with Serie A giants Juventus, who liked him as a left-back.

He has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €1.7 million and a contract that runs until 2027 with his Danish side.

Arne Slot’s first new signing?

It’s been a slow summer in the transfer market for new Liverpool manager Arne Slot, with not a single major signing made at Anfield under the new boss.

Equally, though, the squad remains largely untouched from the one that was left by Jurgen Klopp.

Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara have both been released while Fabio Carvalho, who departed to Brentford for an initial €23.4m, is the only major player to have been sold.

Despite this, Slot made a strong start in the Liverpool dugout on Saturday as a blistering second-half performance saw Ipswich defeated 2-0 at Portman Road thanks to goals from Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah.
