We understand that Galatasaray have made contact with Aston Villa over a loan move for Digne that would later become permanent.

Aston Villa spoke to Digne about this offer but the Frenchman made it clear that he was not interested in the move.

Digne expressed that his only focus was on staying at Aston Villa.

The 31-year-old is one of the few players at Aston Villa with lots of experience of Champions League football, having played in the competition for Lille, PSG, Roma and Barcelona.

He feels that his experience will be useful as Villa enter the Champions League for the first time in its new format and the first time in the European Cup for over 40 years.

Thus, Digne will likely remain at Villa for the 2024-25 season having never even discussed personal terms with Galatasaray.

Digne at Aston Villa

Digne joined Aston Villa from Everton for €29 million in January 2022.

He has since made 93 appearances for Villa, scoring four goals during his two and a half seasons at the club.

In total, the left back has made 414 club appearances during his career at Lille, PSG, Roma, Barcelona and Everton.

He has won league titles in Spain and France, as well as the Nations League for his country.

Digne has been capped 46 times by France, travelling to the 2014 World Cup and to Euro 2016 and Euro 2020.
