Did Man Utd accidentally reveal next signing with huge gaffe?
Manchester United have not been a smoothly run operation for years, and those hoping that the arrival of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos group would herald a dramatic and immediate change in that state of affairs have been left disappointed.
The new owner committed a number of gaffes, including asking the government to fund a new stadium, erring on the deal to bring Newcastle sporting director Dan Ashworth to the club and taking longer than a fortnight to conduct a season review.
Now the club has embarrassingly published an image of Sofyan Amrabat on its official website sporting the new season’s kit – despite the fact that the Morocco international no longer plays for the club. Indeed, he departed the club officially at the end of June – more than five weeks ago.

Amrabat, who spent last season on loan from Fiorentina, has been linked with a potential move back to United if they cannot land Manuel Ugarte from PSG.
Indeed, the image of the 27-year-old sparked rumours among the club’s supporters that a deal had already been done to bring the midfielder back to Old Trafford.
The Manchester Evening News, meanwhile, has rubbished such rumours.

Why Amrabat is still on the website
“Although Amrabat is wearing United's home kit for the 2024/25 season on the website, it's understood the photos for the new campaign weren't recently taken by a photographer,” it states.
Amrabat is eager to return to the Red Devils, but he appears to be down Man Utd’s shortlist of options following an underwhelming spell with the club last season.
Ugarte appears to be their top option, but with the club unable to reach an agreement with the Ligue 1 champions over a transfer fee, this deal has stalled.
United are currently making headway for Burnley’s Norway international star Sander Berge, who has been offered a bumper contract by the team.
