Antony confirms Man Utd transfer decision in emotional interview
Manchester United flop Antony is determined to fight for his place next season.
The €95 million signing has been nothing short of an unmitigated disaster for Man Utd so far. After a middling first season at Old Trafford, Antony only managed one goal and one assist in the Premier League last term.
Earlier in the campaign, the player was unable to play for the Red Devils as Brazilian police had launched an investigation into claims of alleged physical abuse levelled at the player by former girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin.

The investigation remains ongoing but Antony has been brought back into the fold, though he did eventually lose his place in the side. In pre-season, Amad Diallo was favoured on the right wing in the absence of Alejandro Garnacho.
Antony's future has been the subject of plenty of speculation in recent months as Man Utd are open to cashing in on him at the right price. However, the Brazilian has now announced that he is determined to fight for his place.
Antony speaks out
Speaking to The Telegraph in an emotional interview, Antony insisted that the allegations took their toll on his performances and he vows to do better next season.
"I’m someone who demands a lot of myself and I was obviously not satisfied with my season but a lot happened over the year in my personal life. Like it or not, everything I went through had an effect on the pitch."

"Everything I went through was very difficult for me and all my family. I’ve learnt from it all, I’ve grown and matured. I believe I learnt a lot from the adversity...I matured and grew from it all and this will make me stronger going into this new season.”
“New season, new mindset, I’m a lot more focussed and prepared to achieve great things. I know that this season will be totally different. I feel a lot less burdened and more prepared as well - a lot freer to do what I genuinely know how to do."
"I definitely need more goal participations and to score more goals, it’s something I demand from myself. Rest assured you’ll hear the name Antony in relation to goals and assists.”
