Man Utd's Dan Ashworth issues Deadline Day update
Manchester United sporting director Dan Ashworth has admitted that his side are involved in a number of conversations as Transfer Deadline Day edges towards its conclusion.
The Red Devils have already spent €164.5 million so far this summer, but they are on the verge of signing Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte and remain in talks to sign numerous others.
Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling has been heavily linked with Man Utd in recent days, with Jadon Sancho potentially moving in the opposite direction, while Chido Obi-Martin is set to join the club after leaving Arsenal.

However, a late push for Brentford’s Ivan Toney has effectively been ruled out after he was pictured in London undergoing his Al-Ahli medical.
With the deadline creeping closer, Ashworth told The Daily Mail’s Mike Keegan: “‘I had a few missed calls [during the Europa League draw]. I kept getting nudged from Sir Dave Brailsford! My phone was vibrating.
“Let’s see what happens. The window is still open. We’ve got some conversations going on.”
DEADLINE DAY: Every confirmed transfer around Europe
When asked whether he was pleased with Man Utd’s transfer dealings by TNT Sport, Ashworth replied: “Very much so far.
“There’s still a few hours to go, so who knows what will happen in the last few hours, but so far we’ve been really pleased with the business that we’ve done, both in and out.”
Man Utd have signed Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Joshua Zirkzee and Noussair Mazraoui so far this summer, while Mason Greenwood and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are their headline departures.
“We’ve still got a few hours let’s see what happens.” 👀
