OFFICIAL: Man Utd legend David de Gea finally completes transfer
David de Gea has officially joined Serie A outfit Fiorentina.
The Spaniard's transfer limbo is no more. A whopping 13 months after leaving Manchester United, the 33-year-old finally has a new club, moving to Italy after all.
Initially, De Gea was linked with a somewhat surprising move to Genoa, but it quickly emerged that it had not been the club pushing for this transfer but an intermediary who had offered the shot-stopper to the Serie A outfit.

Genoa were looking to sign a younger goalkeeper and one more capable with the ball at his feet, so they decided against initiating talks with the ex-Man Utd man, though they did appreciate that his signing would have created a positive media buzz.
Instead, Fiorentina soon emerged as a credible destination for De Gea and they have now managed to land him.
De Gea joins Fiorentina
The Serie A side have managed to convince the Spanish veteran to complete what is still a pretty surprising transfer after more than a year of free agency.
De Gea reportedly had offers from the Middle East and MLS but has decided to remain in Europe rather than follow the money - there had been concerns about Fiorentina's ability to pay his wages.
However, they have now managed to tie him down to a contract until 2025 with a club option for a further season in what is seen as a real coup for the Florence-based side.

It remains to be seen if De Gea is still his old self or if he has lost some of his outstanding shot-stopping ability after a year without competitive football.
One thing is clear, though, he will add valuable experience and a big-game pedigree to Fiorentina in their bid to finally win the Conference League after successive final appearances.
