Denzel Dumfries wants to leave Inter Milan this summer and currently favours a move to Manchester United, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.

The Netherlands international has just one year left on his current contract at San Siro, but he is focused on sealing a summer move and doesn’t intend on engaging in negotiation talks until the transfer window closes.

However, Dumfries is currently unlikely to secure a move to Man Utd.

Although the Dutchman wants to join the Old Trafford outfit, a transfer will only be possible if Aaron Wan-Bissaka rejects a move to West Ham United, as per Ornstein.

Julen Lopetegui’s side have finalised a fee to sign the former Crystal Palace right-back, but he is yet to accept personal terms, meaning the move could still collapse.

If Wan-Bissaka rejects West Ham’s offer, it would open up the potential for a swap deal between the Red Devils star and Dumfries.

Despite the possibility of signing Dumfries, Man Utd would prefer to sell Wan-Bissaka to West Ham as it would allow them to complete a deal for Bayern Munich’s Noussair Mazraoui.

The Morocco international is currently their first-choice target and reports indicate that Man Utd have already reached an agreement on personal terms to sign the ex-Ajax defender.

Mazraoui made 29 appearances in all competitions for Bayern last season, providing four assists from right-back.

Man Utd’s summer transfer activity

So far this summer, Man Utd have spent a combined €104.5 million to sign Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna and Leny Yoro from Lille.

They remain interested in Mazraoui’s Bayern team-mate Matthijs de Ligt, while Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte is also a target.

However, the Red Devils are unwilling to match PSG’s asking price and FootballTransfers understands that Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Joao Gomes and Burnley’s Sander Berge are among Man Utd’s alternative options.
