Triple deal agreed

Man Utd have reached agreements with Bayern Munich over Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, according to David Ornstein. The Red Devils will pay up to €50 million for the Dutchman and €20m for the Moroccan.

The latter's move is contingent on Aaron Wan-Bissaka joining West Ham, which is now only a matter of time. Fabrizio Romano has dropped his 'here we go' on this particular transfer.

Mario Hermoso talks opened

Man Utd are making a play to sign experienced Spanish defender Mario Hermoso, who is available on a free transfer after he left Atletico Madrid in the summer.

Journalist Maximo de la Cruz Ramirez Ramirez reports: "Man Utd have initiated official contact with Mario Hermoso, the former Atletico Madrid player.

“For now, negotiations are in their initial stages and we will have to see how they develop.

“The defender is asking for a gross salary of €6 million and a three-year contract.”

United are eager to chase reinforcements at centre-back following an injury to summer signing Leny Yoro, who could miss three months.

It is unlikely this deal would derail a move for Matthijs de Ligt, who United are still negotiating with Bayern over.

Toney asking price slashed

England striker Ivan Toney continues to be a focus for Man Utd in attack, with the Red Devils’ hopes of grabbing the Brentford hitman boosted by the news that Tottenham are close to signing Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth.

Spurs had emerged as major pretenders for Toney, with their interest in the striker first revealed by FootballTransfers.

The Bees, meanwhile, have reportedly cut their asking price to €58.5 million (£50m), having initially wanted twice that amount in January.

FootballInsider reports that the Red Devils are ready to make another bid for the player.

Paul Scholes told The Overlap that Arsenal should move for the player, stating: "Ivan Toney is the one who has been mentioned a lot. What is he? 28 years of age. I think in an Arsenal team he could score you 25 goals. I think in a lot of teams he could score 25 goals."

Man Utd have Berge headstart

Sander Berge is one option for Man Utd to sign to bolster their midfield, yet the Red Devils have been tracking the midfielder for an extended period.

Former Old Trafford boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer explained back in 2020 to Dagavisen that he is a player being monitored.

“I know more or less everything about Sander from his time in Norway. I have spoken a lot with Kjetil Rekdal (Solskjaer's former teammate and Berge's manager at Valerenga) about him, and he has done well in the national team,” Solskjaer said.

“He needed some time to get used to the pace and intensity of the Premier League, but now Sheffield United see that they have signed a very good player and he is only going to get better. We know we have to follow him.”

Burnley are asking for €35m (£30m) for the player, who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €12.4m.

Club legend Paul Parker has criticised United’s decision to go after the Norway star.

“Sander Berge’s been relegated twice now. I think with Sheffield United and with Burnley,” he said.

“Twice on the bounce. He’s not exactly a good luck charm, is he? United don’t want to be relegated again from the Champions League spots.”

PSG in Sancho contact

FootballTransfers has revealed in conjunction with the Transfers Podcast that PSG are in talks with Manchester United over a deal with Jadon Sancho, with these discussions taking place during the negotiations over Ugarte.

While there have been conversations with United over a transfer fee, PSG have some reservations over Sancho's application as a player and whether he would work well in a squad coached by Luis Enrique.

Antony’s emotional message

Antony has admitted the allegations made against him in his personal life last year took a toll on his on-field performances and has promised to come back stronger.

Speaking to The Telegraph, he said: “I’m someone who demands a lot of myself and I was obviously not satisfied with my season but a lot happened over the year in my personal life. Like it or not, everything I went through had an effect on the pitch.

“Everything I went through was very difficult for me and all my family. I’ve learnt from it all, I’ve grown and matured. I believe I learnt a lot from the adversity...I matured and grew from it all and this will make me stronger going into this new season.

“New season, new mindset, I’m a lot more focussed and prepared to achieve great things. I know that this season will be totally different. I feel a lot less burdened and more prepared as well - a lot freer to do what I genuinely know how to do.

"I definitely need more goal participations and to score more goals, it’s something I demand from myself. Rest assured you’ll hear the name Antony in relation to goals and assists.”
