Newcastle close in on blockbuster Marc Guehi deal
Newcastle United are close to signing Marc Guehi, according to a report.
The England star appears to be on the verge of leaving Crystal Palace in a blockbuster deal that would see him become one of the Premier League's most expensive defenders.
Guehi is coming off an impressive Euro 2024 campaign and, when fit, he also impressed for the Eagles, making him an attractive option in the market. Linked with the likes of Man Utd and Liverpool, the former Chelsea academy graduate is now closing in on a move to Newcastle.

Last week, the Magpies initiated talks with Crystal Palace and The Telegraph now reports that a deal is about to be struck. Good progress has been made in recent days and Newcastle are aiming to have finalised the deal by the end of the week.
Newcastle land coup, Chelsea land windfall
Successfully completing the signing of Guehi would be a major coup for Newcastle, who are coming off a disappointing season. Given the stature of his other suitors, the Magpies are on the verge of doing excellent business.
The deal is expected to clock in at 'well in excess of £60 million' (around €70m), which will put the 23-year-old in the upper echelon of the Premier League's most expensive centre-backs.

Intriguingly, Guehi is said to be really pushing for this move, but he is not the only one keen for the transfer to be wrapped up. Chelsea are due to earn 20 per cent of the profit generated by Palace, so they are set for a handsome windfall given that he initially only cost €23.3m.
Newcastle are poised to head into the new Premier League season with an all-new centre-back partnership of Guehi and Lloyd Kelly, who has arrived on a free transfer from Bournemouth. The Magpies have secured some major upgrades this summer.
