Arsenal 'willing' to make SHOCK January transfer

Arsenal are reportedly ‘willing’ to cash in on a surprising player next year in a move that could pave way for a big money striker to be signed.

Gabriel Jesus joined Arsenal for €52 million in 2022 from rivals Manchester City and had an impressive debut campaign in North London, grabbing 11 goals and six assists.

However, the Brazilian has failed to push on since then, often struggling with injury and consistency, leading to just four goals in his last 30 league games.

The decline in his output has seen Jesus relegated to the bench, with Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard often preferred up front, and it appears patience could be running out with the 27-year-old.

Brazilian outlet Bola has claimed that Arsenal are ready to sell Jesus in January, with the forward’s former club Palmeiras keen to sign him for €40m.

Palmeiras are understood to see Jesus as a ‘dream’ target due to his links with the club and a transfer would enable the Brazilian giants to have a heavyweight striker in place for their 2025 Club World Cup push.

Jesus sale could allow Arsenal return for top striker targets

Jesus started his career at Palmeiras, scoring 21 times in 67 games before moving to City in 2017 but he has struggled this season at Arsenal, playing just 18 minutes in the opening five Premier League games.

Arsenal did look to sign a striker this summer but moves for players such as Benjamin Sesko ultimately did not work out, prompting Mikel Arteta to keep faith in his current crop of forwards.

But Arsenal are expected to renew their approach for Sesko or indeed another striker such as Alexander Isak or Viktor Gyokeres, as well as a wide player like Nico Williams.

Any further additions would likely require a player like Jesus to be moved on, particularly due to his pedigree and status as a high-earner at the Emirates Stadium, perhaps giving credit to any suggestions over a return to Brazil.
