The Gunners have been in the market for a top-class number nine for some time now, with Kai Havertz the current first-choice as a false nine despite naturally being an attacking midfielder.

Gabriel Jesus has been out of favour for some time now, and is expected to be put for sale at the end of the season.

TeamTalk reports that Arsenal will finally sign a new top-class striker in 2025 and have compiled a four-man shortlist.

The preferred target remains RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko.

Arsenal had been in advanced talks to sign Sesko at the start of this summer.

The Gunners believed that a deal was all but done and that there were only some formalities to complete before Sesko would agree on personal terms.

It came as a huge shock when it was revealed that Sesko would be staying at Leipzig and signing a new contract.

Despite this, Arsenal remain interested in Sesko and could launch a new move in the new year.

The second name on Arsenal’s shortlist is Sporting Lisbon goal machine Viktor Gyokeres.

Gyokeres has an incredible nine goals in seven appearances for Sporting this season and 52 goals in 57 games since joining the club from Coventry in 2023.

The third name on Arsenal’s shortlist is Lille striker Jonathan David.

The Canada international has also been prolific over recent years for Lille, scoring 88 goals in 193 appearances since joining from Gent in 2020.

He is available on a free transfer at the end of the season as his contract expires.

The final name on Arsenal’s shortlist is Inter Milan star Marcus Thuram. The son of France legend Lilian, the 27-year-old played a key role in Inter winning the Scudetto last season.

He has started the current season well with four goals in six games and has a release clause of €85m in his contract.
