Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has fired back at the critics following his tepid display against Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Brazil international was hooked at half-time by Erik ten Hag as the Red Devils trailed 2-0 to their great rivals, with his lack of mobility in the heart of the midfield brutally exposed.

It left fans craving for the arrival of Manuel Ugarte in the heart of the park and has had some fans hoping that he finds his way to the Saudi Pro League after a lacklustre last 12 months at Old Trafford.

FootballCritic scored his performance as a miserable 4.3 against the Anfield club, who ran out 3-0 winners away from home.

It was a display that will likely go down as one of the worst in the Premier League this season and will hasten Casemiro’s exit from the Man Utd team when Ugarte becomes available after the international break.

Nevertheless, Anna Mariana Casemiro, the player’s wife, offered a clear retort on Instagram later on Sunday evening as she posted an image of the player’s trophy collection, including the five Champions League titles that he has won.

It was a clear shot at the critics and a sharp reminder of what a good player Casemiro once was, yet the display of the 32-year-old against Liverpool suggests his time at the top is growing short.
