The transfer window may be closed in the Premier League but Chelsea’s business looks set to continue with an astonishing 41st player on the verge of leaving Stamford Bridge this summer.

The Blues were, once again, the largest spenders in world football this summer, splashing out €238.5 million, taking their spending under their Todd Boehly-led regime to more than €1.3 billion in the last two years.

Much has been made of Chelsea’s player trading and bloated squad size and the club were kept busy this summer to ensure they could find outgoing moves for a host of unwanted and fringe players.

No less than 40 players departed Chelsea this summer, perhaps unsurprisingly leading Enzo Maresca’s side to have also raised the most money of any team in world football during the window, accumulating €198m in incoming fees.

But the wheeling and dealing has not stopped despite the close of the window, with forward Datro David Fofana agreeing to join AEK Athens on a loan deal, with the Greek side having the option to make it permanent for just over €20m.

Chelsea are also hoping to find a move for Ben Chilwell in the coming days, with some transfer windows across the world still open, although the chances of the left-back becoming the 42nd outgoing this summer appears slim.

The names behind Chelsea’s 40-strong departure list this summer

Chelsea’s biggest sale this summer was the €44.5m departure of Ian Maatsen to Aston Villa, while Conor Gallagher’s €42m move to Atletico Madrid also raised a large amount.

The likes of Lewis Hall, Romelu Lukaku and Omari Hutchinson also generated significant income through permanent sales, along with Angelo Gabriel and Diego Moreira leaving for fees.

Along with Fofana, the other 33 departures from Chelsea included players like Trevoh Chalobah and Armando Broja who left on loan, as well as stars released on free transfers such as Thiago Silva and Hakim Ziyech.

A host of youth talent make up the bulk of the remaining players, leading to a staggering turnaround of players in the Clearlake era for Chelsea, with the dealing showing no sign of slowing down anytime soon.
