Coman, 28, was expected to leave Bayern during the summer transfer window, but he remained with the Bundesliga giants, despite heavy links with a move to Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal.

Arsenal were eyeing a last-minute deal for Coman too, however the Gunners eventually signed Raheem Sterling on loan from Chelsea instead.

Furthermore, TBR Football have now reported that Chelsea were also in talks to sign Coman, but they ended discussions with the France international following news that a deal for the aforementioned Sancho was possible.

According to Graeme Bailey, the Blues were in serious talks regarding a potential late move for Coman. However, whilst in negotiations with the Frenchman’s representatives, Enzo Maresca’s side were informed of Sancho’s availability.

Chelsea swiftly ended their pursuit of Coman and began finalising an agreement to sign the Manchester United winger.

In the end, Sancho joined Chelsea on a season-long loan deal on Transfer Deadline Day, and the move will be made permanent for around €27 million if the Blues finish 14th or higher this campaign.

As per TBR Football, Arsenal, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur were all interested in signing Coman during the final week of the summer window, but a deal never materialised.

Kingsley Coman to stay at Bayern Munich

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich board member Max Eberl has confirmed that Coman will remain at the club this summer.

After Bayern’s 2-0 win over Freiburg on Sunday, Eberl told reporters (as per The Athletic): “King is staying with us. It’s good to have an international break straight after the transfer window. It’s fun to build a squad.

“You discuss many things, what’s doable. Planning a squad is a puzzle of people with feelings. It’s like an orchestra. You build a group with which you try to achieve your goals.”
