Strasbourg are delighted with BlueCo signing Sebastian Nanasi. Could he be a future Chelsea star?

The Ligue 1 club spent lavishly for a second consecutive summer after being taken over by BlueCo. Despite frequent fan protests against the new owners, you can't accuse them of failing to provide significant funds.

Strasbourg shelled out more than €55 million this summer and €11m of that sum went to Malmo for Sebastian Nanasi, making him the Allsvenskan's record sale in the process.

So far, the 22-year-old has starred for his new employer. An all-action midfielder usually used out left, the Swede has impressed with his technical ability, vision, energy and attacking output, scoring in three of the four Ligue 1 games he has played in to date.

Rosenior 'loves' Nanasi

Speaking to the media last week, new Strasbourg boss Liam Rosenior waxed lyrical about Nanasi. "I love Sebastian and I'm very happy that he's here. He has great technical qualities and a very good vision of the game," the former Premier League defender said.

"He learns very quickly and has assimilated a lot of information in a short time. Sebastian scored a very nice goal in the build-up. He lost a little energy as the game went on, but we expected that after his week with the national team. I'm happy with his performance."

The midfielder has played four senior games with Sweden and many more are expected to follow. His form will certainly also not go unnoticed by those in charge at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea will be keenly watching Nanasi's development at their affiliate club given that the French side has become a kind of testing ground for Blues talent. The Swede looks like a player who could eventually make the step up and move to Chelsea.
