England will be watching Greenwood, Three Lions legend claims
Mason Greenwood’s positive start to life at Marseille will have made the future England manager sit up and take notice, according to former Three Lions hero Chris Waddle.
Greenwood faced accusations of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and though these were ultimately dropped following the withdrawal of ‘key witnesses’ from the investigation, Manchester United took the decision to move him on.
After a season with Getafe, a deal was struck with Marseille for a €26 million transfer that sees the Red Devils retain a sizeable sell-on clause for the striker.

The move was not without controversy.
He added: “I don’t want my club to be covered with the shame of someone who hits his partner.”

Greenwood’s form eye-catching, says Waddle
On the field, Greenwood has scored five goals in three Ligue 1 appearances and has also laid on an assist.
Waddle, who was a favourite of the Marseille crowd during a spell that ran from 1989-1992, says that the future England manager, whomever that may be, will be closely following the ex-Man Utd striker’s progress at Stade Velodrome.
“He's a very good player. He’s got the number 10 shirt and England seem to be producing a lot on good number 10’s these days. He's come out of the blocks very quick, started scoring goals from the off. The new England manager will be taking notice of this,” he told TribalFootball.
“We all know the French league is quite strong, but it's not as strong as three or four other leagues in Europe now, you've got to take that into account. It is not as strong as the Premier League, the La Liga or the Bundesliga. But all he can do is do what he's doing in Marseille. Score goals and play well.”
Greenwood already has one cap for England, but given the nature of the accusations that continue to cloud him, any further appearances are hard to imagine.
