Manchester United’s 3-0 loss against Tottenham at Old Trafford on Sunday has been brutally analysed by club legend Gary Neville, who says the performance was “an absolute disgrace”.

The Red Devils were completely overwhelmed by Spurs, and even before Bruno Fernandes was sent off in the first half, were threatening to experience a big defeat.

In the end, goals from Brennan Johnson, Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke saw Tottenham record an easy victory as United sank to 12th in the standings.

“They have been an absolute disgrace,” Neville told Sky Sports. “It's one of the worst performances I have seen under Ten Hag. And that is saying something. It is really bad.”

United have already suffered three defeats from six matches this season, with their sole wins coming against Fulham and Southampton, yet Sunday’s loss was a particularly sore one.

“Today has shocked me how low they've gone. It was a really bad one,” Neville said.

“I know that David Moyes had some bad ones in the early days, so has Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] along the way, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho and Ralf Rangnick, but that felt like one of those days today where they sank really low.”

Neville had previously described Man Utd as playing like a pub team during the first half of the encounter.

Ten Hag on his future

Ten Hag, meanwhile, is adamant that he is not thinking about quitting.

“I am not thinking about this,” said Ten Hag. “We made this decision together - to stay together with the ownership, the leadership group and the staff after a clear review on how to improve as an organisation.

“We discussed together how to construct a squad and we all knew it will take some time - we needed improvement in organisation, we still have some injuries.

“But we are all on one page, in the same boat; owners, leadership, the staff and players group.”

Man Utd are next in action on Thursday, when they travel to Porto in the Europa League.
