United are aiming to sign young talent under their new regime, having spent big on players like Leny Yoro in the summer, as well as under-the-radar talent such as Sekou Kone, who joined the club’s development team.

And United’s scouting has led them to Austria, where Danish forward Adam Daghim has been attracting attention for his meteoric rise to the first team in recent times.

The 18-year-old joined RB Salzburg last summer and spent the campaign at feeder club Liefering in the second tier of Austria, scoring six times in 22 games.

The winger returned to Salzburg to feature in their first team this season and scored his second goal of the season in the Champions League playoff round against Dynamo Kyiv this week.

Daghim’s increasing importance to Salzburg has led to interest from affiliate club RB Leipzig as well as Dortmund, who are expected to rival United in any transfer for the teenager, according to Danish outlet tipsbladet.

Who is Manchester United target Adam Daghim?

Daghim became the youngest player to feature for AGF when he made his debut for the Danish side in April 2022 and he appeared 11 times in total before moving to Salzburg.

After scoring four goals in his first nine games for Liefering, Salzburg gave Daghim a new contract just six months after signing, extending his deal until 2028.

The youngster also played eight times for Denmark’s under-18 side before being promoted to the under-19s, where he has scored three times in nine games.

Former Liverpool assistant coach Pep Lijnders, who currently manages RB Salzburg, was full of praise for Daghim recently.

He said: “Adam has great potential. I don't like to single out individual players but he has ability, he is quick, he is very committed and has a big heart. He works for the team.”
