The Red Devils were linked with a late summer move for the USMNT star, but they eventually decided against pursuing a deal before Transfer Deadline Day.

However, Man Utd are now hoping to sign Robinson in January, according to The Sun.

Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are both currently injured and Man Utd’s failure to sign a new left-back during the summer transfer window has forced Diogo Dalot to play in that position so far this season.

The Portuguese international has deputised fairly well, but he is best on the opposite flank and Erik ten Hag’s side are now ready to dip into the market for a left-back.

Fulham’s Robinson has reportedly been identified as the Red Devils’ ideal target as they look for a long-term replacement for England international Shaw.

The 29-year-old has missed more than 35 games through injury since the start of last season and as a result, Man Utd are now looking to sign Robinson - who is valued at €35 million by Fulham, as per The Sun.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City have all been linked with a move for Robinson over the past 18 months, but he remains a Fulham player as things stand.

Furthermore, his current contract at Craven Cottage isn’t due to expire until 2028, after he signed an extension last summer, but Man Utd are looking to sign the American in a bid to help fix their defensive issues.

Ben Chilwell snubbed

Man Utd’s pursuit of Robinson comes after they rejected the opportunity to sign Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell during the summer window.

The England international has been frozen out by new Blues boss Enzo Maresca and he was reportedly offered to Man Utd in exchange for Jadon Sancho.

However, the Red Devils turned down the chance to sign Chilwell and Sancho eventually joined Chelsea in a standalone loan deal.
