Norwegian wonderkid Nypan speaks of 'dream' to play for Man Utd

Rosenborg BK’s 17-year-old wonderkid Sverre Halseth Nypan has opened up about his dream of one day playing for Manchester United.

Under Ineos, the Red Devils have put a strong impetus on bringing in young talent who can develop over the years at Old Trafford. It's a complete contrast to their previous blueprint of paying big money for ready-made stars.

And Nypan could be the next through the door, with the Premier League giants believed to be scouting the teenager.

Speaking on the United Norway Podcast he claimed that “it would obviously be a dream come true to play for Manchester United. I’m aware United has shown some interest.”

“But I’m quite adamant that I don’t want to open that door yet. I want to focus on Rosenborg and not think too far ahead.”

United have been watching the player since he was 16 years old but are likely to be one of several sides looking to sign him.

Bayer Leverkusen make interest known

Bayer Leverkusen representatives were also said to have watched Nypan recently. The reigning Bundesliga champions might be preparing for any Florian Wirtz exit, with the German linked with moves to Real Madrid and Manchester City.

However, Nypan was told that moving to Old Trafford at such a young age would be detrimental to his career. Norwegian pundit Yaw Amankwah advised the midfielder to only leave Rosenborg for a club where he will regularly play and continue his development.

“When I hear names like Manchester United, I think it would be a bad idea,” Amankwah told TV 2. “I hope he ends up on a step that won't be too big, a place where he can continue his development, with plenty of playing time.”

Despite all the speculation, Nypan has been quite level-headed about the links.

“To be completely honest. The only thing I care about is getting back to the shape I was in before the illness,” Nypan told TV 2. “I didn't know about [the interest], so I don't really think about it that much.

“That's how it's always going to be, so there's nothing to worry about. I have to learn and deal with it, and I feel that I do.”
