Man Utd target Xavi Simons makes 2025 plans clear - Romano
Manchester United targeted Xavi Simons during the summer transfer window and the Paris Saint-Germain attacker's future is open, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Dutchman is back at RB Leipzig on loan again after a successful spell there last term. And his future might not be as simple as heading back to PSG at the conclusion of this campaign.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said: "Never say never in football so PSG will have their chances but all I'm hearing is that the situation of Xavi Simons could be open again in summer 2025 to clubs maybe from Premier League, clubs maybe from La Liga."

"The situation could be open again in summer 20205. We had many many rumours, my information is that Manchester United at some point of the market, especially in June before the Euros, called to understand the situation.
He continued: "(It was) Something like, 'Okay what's going on here? Does the player want to go to England?' But never started a negotiation.
"Because for Xavi it was very clear it was going to be again, Germany. Staying in the same country and then moving to something different, probably, from summer 2025.
"We had many rumours because he's a Dutch player and Ten Hag, but they called to be informed on the situation but nothing else. Interest, of course, in a wonderful talent, but nothing else."
United brought in the likes of Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, and Manuel Ugarte during the summer window.

However, they did not bring in someone who could play Simons' position as an attacking midfielder. Erik ten Hag has Bruno Fernandes but has been using the Portugal international as a false nine.
Simons would cost a fair amount. FootballTranssfers' Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) algorithm puts Simons at €46.7million, with his contract at PSG up in June 2027.
United fostered a decent relationship after they both found a reasonable price for Ugarte, who joined the Premier League outfit during the summer window.
It could be that Ten Hag continues his pursuit of signing the best Dutch players in the world today, while Simons' young age would tick a lot of boxes for Ineos, too.
