Odegaard and partner Helene Spilling have announced that they’re set to become parents, and while the former Real Madrid playmaker prepares for one big change in his life, he is not planning another by leaving the Gunners.

He has, however, explained that the Emirates club are not yet perfect.

“I feel I am established in my life now. I feel like I’m at the perfect club and I’m fine at home too. So now I feel that things are in place,” he told TV2.

“The only thing missing is for us to start winning titles with Arsenal and make it to the championship with Norway.”

Odegaard on becoming a father

The 25-year-old is a major celebrity in Norway, so the news that he and partner Helene are expecting is getting plenty of coverage back at home, particularly with Odegaard on international duty.

Asked about becoming a father for the first time, he explained: “It’s fantastic and something I’m really looking forward to. It’s something I’ve really wanted to do in my life, so it will be great.

“It is difficult to say what fatherhood will be like. It is probably what most people say; that you don’t quite know what you’re going to do until you suddenly stand there. But I’m really looking forward to it.”

Odegaard, who has an Estimated Transfer Value of €73.6 million and is under contract until June 2028, has captained Arsenal in their three Premier League fixtures so far this season, which have seen Mikel Arteta’s side take seven points from a possible nine.

He is also the leader of his international side, though they were held to a shock scoreless draw against Kazakhstan on Thursday in Nations League Group B.
